Ekaterina Novikova
Developmental Scientist
I am a PhD candidate in Human Development and
Family Sciences at the University of Delaware.
Research interests
As a social scientist, I study barriers and facilitators to successful child development in the context of family, school, community, and larger society. My research interests focus on three major areas:
1
Immigrant wellbeing
Immigrant families’ child care and parenting factors
2
Child development
Predictors of child language development
3
Early educators
Early educator professional
development
In my work, I use both quantitative (longitudinal latent class analysis, regression) and qualitative (grounded theory) research methods. My work has been published in journals such as Acta Paediatrica, Early Childhood Education Journal, and Environmental Education Research. You can learn more about my research here.
Education
Before starting the PhD program, I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Linguistics as well as Bachelor’s in Civil Law at Tambov State University in Russia.

And beyond that,
I’m an endlessly curious soul.
I am a curious researcher who finds balance between academic work and the simple joys of life. A deep love for nature keeps me grounded, while playing the piano lets me express creativity in a different language.
Exploring new places and cultures through travel inspires fresh perspectives and gives me energy to work on new projects.
Nature enjoyer
I like to be outdoors with my husband in
search of new species of birds and animals.
Art & culture lover
I enjoy traveling around the United States and discovering
history and architecture of states.
