Summary
In this paper, I explore the specifics of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to future Bachelors of Law, where I focus on the instructor’s role and the challenges that arise in this context.
The paper examines psychological, conceptual, methodological, linguistic, and organizational difficulties encountered by instructors who often lack legal training. The paper highlights the necessity of integrating linguistic, professional, and interdisciplinary knowledge to ensure effective legal English instruction. I emphasize that active teaching methods such as case studies, project work, and role-playing, may foster professional communicative competence, critical thinking, and cross-cultural awareness.
The paper recommends that professionally oriented English language teaching for Law students should be based on a comprehensive approach that combines language skills with legal subject matter, thus enabling students to develop practical competencies for international legal communication.
