National Early Care and Education Workforce Center

As a researcher with NECEWC, my work includes

  • examining strategies for early educators to receive financial support with accessing higher education
  • supporting states through technical assistance in revising current career pathways to incorporate experience.

The Everyday Quality project, University of Alabama

As a research assistant for the Everyday Quality (EDQ) project, I support creating a new measure of quality and an accompanying toolkit for family child care educators. My work covers:

  • conducting and scoring observations using different measures of quality
  • developing and testing items for the new EDQ measure
  • participant recruitment
  • analyzing educator interview data

I am also leading a separate project on educator language in family child care settings using the EDQ observations data.

Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood

My responsibilities as a research assistant at DIEEC include

  • monthly and quarterly reporting on quality improvement assistance provided to early care and education programs
  • annual provider survey data preparation and analysis
  • conducting workplace climate assessments and compiling reports for program administrators
  • reporting on programs and initiatives conducted by DIEEC

I also led a project examining early childhood educator participation in the outdoor education professional development initiative.

Speech Language Acquisition and Multilingualism Laboratory

I worked at SLAM Lab as a research assistant for a semester, where I performed

  • eye tracking coding
  • Language Environment Analysis (LENA) data extraction
  • participant recruitment
  • Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts (SALT) coding

After that, I led the project examining the link between parent-child talk and audiovisual media time and program type in collaboration with SLAM Lab at the University of Delaware and the LILAC Lab at the University of Texas at Dallas.

PreK in Family Child Care Project

As a research assistant, I supported data analysis and writing of the brief that examined how three distinct locales were integrating Family Child Care into their mixed-delivery PreK systems.

University of Delaware Laboratory School

As a research assistant with the Lab School, I:

  • worked on pre-service and in-service educator data preparation and analysis
  • conducted literature review for manuscripts
  • supported the InBloom conference preparation

I also led a project on examining remote school-family interactions during the COVID-19 lockdown.
